After unveiling the list of winners, Mr Genos Martin, the Head of Programs, Research and Innovation for Serengeti Bytes, said to a large extent the Awards were affected by the outbreak of COVID-19 Pandemic in the country because the outbreak came few weeks after the launch of the awards. However, Mr Martin said that the COVID-19 had put emphasis on the importance of digital technology on our daily lives, and this makes The Tanzania Digital Awards more relevant.

"Soon after we launched the Tanzania Digital Awards in January this year, we received massive support from the public, corporates, the government, and all other stakeholders. They were all ready to participate in the success of the awards until the interruption by Covid-1. Despite the disruption, on the other hand, the corona has helped us all to understand the importance of embracing the digital technologies as we dive into a new normal.” - said Mr Martin.

Speaking about the winners, Mr Martin said, all the winners are merited, looking at the impact they are making in the society through effective use of digital platforms. Martin added that next year the awards will expand to cover more sectors with a view of stimulating creativity and innovation for enhanced growth and development of the digital technology in Tanzania.

"We congratulate all the winners in all categories, looking at their efforts and impact they are making on digital - all of them are well deserved. We believe this recognition will inspire more actors and citizens to drive positive change in the country through the effective use of digital technology. In the next awards, we will make sure more stakeholders are well informed so that they can fully participate".
